On the 7th November 2016 a meeting of the expert group “Logistics” of the Strategic Partnership Digital Africa (StraPa) will take place in Berlin. During the workshop, current developments and activities in the area of (E)logistics of the GIZ will be presented on behalf of the BMZ and possible joint activities will be concretized and first possible steps of the working process will be discussed.
The Strategic Partnership Digital Africa is an initiative of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Under the slogan “An opportunity for the German digital economy. An opportunity for your company!”, BMZ is working with the private sector to tap the digital potential of Africa and to provide sustainable impulses for development. The goal is a win-win situation for both sides. The StraPa aims to support and promote private investment and responsible entrepreneurship in the digital sector. Its goal is to make economic development sustainable and create positive economic, social and environmental spillover effects for the African population.
To this end, the initiative concentrates on German and European core competencies in the digital field. The focus will be on the application of ICT solutions in a wide range of sectors, as well as the development of sustainable economic and financial systems. It also places particular emphasis on selected African countries, which offer good framework conditions for successful implementation.
BMZ offers ist partners of the Strategic Partnership for Digital Africa a wide range of opportunities by supporting their projects: financing of investments in partner countries, feasibility studies to prepare for investment in the digital sector, the inclusion into the BMZ programs and initiatives such as “DeveloPPP“, “lab of tomorrow“or “MakeIT“. Like this partner companies can strengthen their technologies and innovative solutions to help shape the digital development of our neighbour continent Africa.
